It didn't take long to decide. We read the bio/psych/social profile and stared at the photo. We read the report again. We talked and prayed. We made ourselves at least "sleep on it."
And then... We said, "YES!!" :-)
Last night, we sent to CHI via email our acceptance letter to bring Andrea Johana (age 11) and Juan Felipe (age 8) into our family! Nichole said the letter will be translated and sent to Lucia in Colombia today so she can hand it in to ICBF!! We're on our way now!
On Wednesday morning, I will take our medical and FBI clearance letters to be apostilled and then send them on to Nichole. She is working on an email to give us the rundown on the next steps we need to be working on - back on the paperwork treadmill we go, it seems. Oh boy!
We are tentatively looking to travel at the end of April and presumably be in Colombia for most of the month of May, depending on how long things really take in the process. I know it varies and could be anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. And then we come home and the adventure really begins!! :-)
The next few weeks will be a whirlwind of details and travel preparation, I'm sure, and then we'll be on a plane headed for Colombia to meet our precious niños! I don't want it to go too fast (so I can get everything done), but at the same time I want it to hurry and be time to go!
But, for the moment, it's time to "go" get ready for work. Have a great day!

It came! It came! :-)
After waiting patiently (well, mostly) for 2-1/2 weeks, this morning I received a call from Ashley at CHI saying, "I think I have something you've been waiting for!" "Hallelujah!" was my response!! :-)
Moments later, I received in my email inbox a photo of two beautiful children and a 13-page bio/psych/social report on the two of them. I was supposed to be working, but you know I just couldn't wait to read through the report and stare at their photo. (I did get my work done too, eventually!)
And in the mail today, we received our updated FBI clearances - is that perfect timing, or what? (We received our updated medical letter on Tuesday.) The pieces are coming together.
Forgive me if I still don't share too many details at this point. Frankly, I'm not certain what I can share (I know I can't post the photo - at least not yet), and until we give our definite "yes" I think I'll just hold off a bit longer. (Sorry!!)
I will say that, as we've been confidently praying all along, they do seem in many ways like they were hand-picked just for us (and, of course, we believe they were!). Apparently, she likes to play volleyball and he likes to play with toy cars - anyone who knows my husband will instantly recognize that these are two of his favorite pastimes (ok, he "plays" with real cars)! And they are both described as being "sensitive" - I suspect that people who know me might choose that as a word to describe me as well.
To say I'm excited would be putting it mildly. It's pretty amazing to think that we've finally gotten to this point and soon we will have our very own niños in the house with us! Thanks again to those of you who have been praying with us for this day and the days ahead - don't stop! I can't wait to be able to say to you, "These are our kids!" :-)

Here's an update...
On Feb. 23, 2009, Julie notified us that our dossier was now approved for two siblings up to 12 years old, and that it had been sent to the Boyaca Regional Office in or near Tunja (a city a couple of hours north-ish from Bogota). Woohoo! Things are moving now!
She also said it's time to start getting our FBI clearances and medical letters updated because she didn't think it would be long before we would have an assignment of kids! And she was right, of course.
On Monday, March 2, Julie called me to say... We have been assigned to two siblings!!!! An 8-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl... And that's all she knew! Well, until Wednesday morning (March 4) when I received an email with the kids' names and the text of the letter stating these kids were assigned to us on Feb. 20.
We are still waiting for photos and their bio/psych/social information, so if you'll bear with us, we're going to keep the names to ourselves for just a little while longer until we have a chance to read the reports on them. In the meantime, you can pray for us in these next steps in the process - I think things are really going to start moving now and I can only hope to be ready enough.
The tentative word from Julie is that we might be traveling in mid-to-end of April?? Yes, I know, that's just six or eight weeks away!!!
